The trusty 67 Mustang was taken out for the Shannons Sports & Muscle Car spectacular . The meeting was a salute to Trans am Racing which brought out all the classic Collectable cars .
The No.5 Mustang had a weekend to forget with Engine issues for most of it . A stirring drive from last to 4th on the Sunday morning looked good giving Geoff a 2nd row race start on the grid for the feature race .
Feature race started with all the fan fair of a wrestling match with cars going off every which way. The trusty Stang was in 3rd chasing Grant and Woodward . Catching Grant on the 4th lap to take second was the high light of the meeting because the next lap the Engine Exploded going into turn 1 at QR Spreading Oil and Fire and Mayhem . The Mustang ended parked off to the out field after spinng 8 times and coming to a rest on the edge of the track were young Mick Grimes Hit the Oil left from the failure and side swipped the prone car .
Geoff was awarded 2nd for the race but the stang was very second hand .Back to the workshop for some tender Love and Panel Beating .
Next outing will be the Thanksgiving Day meeting at Lakeside in November come see the Transams make thunder .

Out with the old and in with the New .
Our Trusty MX5 has been sold to a better Home and we have shipped in a C6 Corvette from the states .We ran the car as it arrived in the last meeting of the year at Lakeside TopGear Production Sport Car Class and dominated the meeting with Quick Time for Qualifing and Winnig all the races . What a deal the best car I have ever driven .
After the floods and Cyclones gave us a break we made some changes and went to the opening Top Gear meeting for the year . Once more after some timing issues we Quick Timed and Proceeded to win the first race then the second race we had Lead come off the coil back on cylinder one causing a Non finnish . Race Three we came from the rear and finnished 5th being blocked by slower cars preventing a win . Race four we raced through the field taking the feature race . The heat of the day was unbelievable 40' at the truck and 60 degree track temp.
All in all a great first weekend to start a so far miserable year and what a car !

GFR race team took the newly aquired 67 Mustang SCCA Transam to Queensland Raceway for the Anzac weekend Queensland Racing Drivers Championship RD2. The Classic Ford Mustang won many admirers over the weekend with its old school muscle car looks and smoking sideways driving style .
Qualifing in a respectable 4th on the Saturday Geoff took the car to as high as 2nd before spinning off the track in turn 4 avoiding another car finally finnishing 5th in its first race . Race 2 on Saturday had the mustang as low as 8th but charged back to 4th before spinning again in turn 4 with a differential problem finnishing 6th.
Sunday dawned bright and clear after the Anzac ceramony the field Camaro's and Mustang's once more did there thing on the track . The GFR car getting as high as second before finnishing 4th . Unfortunately the hard racing had caused a Head Casket issue that would haunt the old girl in the final race of the weekend . The last race was a cracker with Geoff once again having a bad start and working back from 6th took the lead with 2 laps to go in a hard braking duel in turn 3 only to have the car overheat and start to loose power allowing Ian woodward and Colin Wharington to pass for 1st and 2nd .
3rd on its first outing was okay . Few repairs some changes and next and its off to the Shannons Sports and Muscle car Showdown on the 26th ans 27th of June for the Biggest meeting of the year.

GFR Industries race team competed in the 1st round of the Queensland Production Sports Championship at Lakeside Raceway on the 14th Feb.
After a crowded qualifier which restricted the No.5 MX5 to second on the grid only being beaton out by Steve Cooper and his GT3 Porsche in the final seconds by a mere .25 of a second Famous was confident of a strong showing over the weekend.
Race 1 came down to a battle with Coopers Porsche with Fane putting the pass on into Hungry on the last lap taking the win by a nose form Coppers Porsche GT3 and Finns MX5.
Race 2 Famous took an early lead as Cooper was engulfed by the rest of the field . Cooper raced back through pack passing the No.5 mazda with a lap to go on the front straight .
Race 3 Famous once again pulled a 100mtr lead and was looking good until a red flag appear for accident on track. On the restart Copper made good his secong chance and this time got the jump on Famous as well did Finn in his MX5. Famous was being held up by Finn for two laps as Cooper got away making good his restart . Entering the third lap Famous went down the inside into Carousel side by side with Finn only to have Finn contact the No.5 car at 200Km and send Famous into the air almost back flipping until the car landed back on 3 wheels going into Carousel . Famous limped back to the Pitts and retired the car for the day with two much damage to continue.
Roll on round 2 at Queensland Raceway with a 60 point difference to the leaders it will be a hard task to catch up but any things possible .
